Washington Square residents enjoy a variety of stimulating activities. Our full-time activities director publishes a monthly newsletter, ‘ROUND THE SQUARE, where you can find detailed information on all activities. Some of the activities found regularly on the calendar include: exercise, movies, bingo, entertainment, day trips, travelogues, current events, birthday celebrations, dinner parties, cards, lunch outings, lectures, and happy hours.

Residents are invited to participate in any activities that appeal to them. Many events take place at Washington Square while others are at theatres, museums, restaurants, and other places of interest in the Chicago area. Washington Square provides bus transportation for these outings.

There are numerous opportunities for volunteer work in the Hinsdale area. Currently, residents can be found lending a hand at the hospital, Hinsdale Community Service, and the Active Adult Center.

Resident volunteers can also be found at Washington Square. The “Handwork Group” has been making lap robes for the veterans at Hines Hospital for years. The Resident Council, our homeowners’ association, has an executive committee and numerous sub-committees that serve in different capacities, such as being hostesses at happy hours and the birthday celebrations or managing the library located at Washington Square.
